Bicycle Trailer Hitch - Towing With You Bike
A bicycle trailer is a two wheeled cart attached to your bike that allows you to tow something behind your bike. Bicycle trailer hitches are used to attach the trailer to the rear of your bike. By using a bicycle trailer hitch, you can carry loads like gear, children or pets in your trailer. There are different systems of attaching the bicycle trailer hitch to your bike.
The bicycle trailer hitch or the bike carrier hitch may be attached to the seat post with temporary or permanent clamps. It may also be bolted to the rear axle at special attachment points. The chain stay system is a two-piece sandwiching clamp with a socket and pin receiver, which is screwed over the left rear triangle. Improvised hitches can also be attached to the rear cargo or the pannier rack. These cannot hold much weight, as the rear cargo is not a structural part of the bicycle.
All these bicycle trailer hitches are designed to pull a two-wheeled cargo or children carrier. However, some bike trailer hitches are designed to pull multi wheeled golf carts with weights of up to 200 pounds.
You must make sure to use the proper hitch accessories with your bicycle trailer hitch for safety and easy riding.
